In a world where creativity often begins with a single idea and a strand of inspiration, crochet designer and event organizer Brandon O'Connor is weaving something special for the creative community. His upcoming event, Crochet Fest, is more than just a showcase of handcrafted fashion—it is a celebration of artistry, collaboration, and the growing appreciation for fiber arts in Trinidad and Tobago.

For O'Connor, the concept for Crochet Fest began with a moment of curiosity and research. While exploring ways to grow his own brand, he discovered an international event known as Crochet Fashion Week. The idea sparked inspiration.
“I came across Crochet Fashion Week and realized something like this could work,” he shared. “I wasn’t sure if I would get the support needed to host a full fashion week, so I decided to create something similar on a scale that could still bring people together. That’s how Crochet Fest was born.”
Born from that idea is an event designed with purpose.
A Platform for Creative Collaboration

Crochet Fest is not simply about displaying garments on a runway. Instead, it is built around collaboration—an ecosystem where designers, models, photographers and creatives can grow together.
At the event, upcoming models will have the opportunity to obtain professional photographs for their portfolios. Designers will benefit from visual marketing as their creations are showcased by the models. Photographers, in turn, gain fresh content for their platforms.
In other words, everyone involved leaves with something of value.
The event reflects an important truth in the creative industry: success is rarely built alone. It thrives in community.
More Than Fashion: Sharing Knowledge
Beyond the visual spectacle of handcrafted pieces, O’Connor hopes Crochet Fest will also serve as an educational space.
His goal is simple but meaningful—to help attendees walk away with a deeper understanding of fiber arts, including crochet and knitting, while also learning about modeling, branding and networking within the creative sector.
Crochet, after all, is more than a craft. It is a tradition that connects generations, cultures and stories through thread and technique. Events like Crochet Fest help ensure that these art forms continue to evolve while remaining rooted in their heritage.
A Community of Support
Behind every successful event is a circle of supporters, and Crochet Fest is no different. O’Connor credits several close friends and collaborators who have stood by him throughout his journey as a designer.
Among those lending their support are:
Afro Pump
Asylum Entertainment
Madame Ryls
Sue's Fashion
Samuel Gums
Brandon also highlighted the models who have grown alongside him in the industry—individuals who continue to support his vision and help bring his designs to life.

Designers Bringing the Threads to Life
Crochet Fest will feature a diverse lineup of designers who are each contributing their own creative style and interpretation of fiber art including:
Afro Pump
Authentic Crochet
Crochet with Fae
It's a Soul Thing
Madame Ryls Exotic Designs
TFO Fashion
Together, they represent the creativity and diversity that define the modern crochet movement.

Stitching the Future of Creative Fashion
At its heart, Crochet Fest is about connection—between art and artist, between emerging talent and opportunity, and between tradition and innovation.
Events like this remind us that fashion is not always about mass production or fast trends. Sometimes, it begins with a single hook, a strand of yarn, and a designer with a vision.
Through Crochet Fest, Brandon O’Connor is proving that when creativity is woven with community, something truly meaningful can be created.
